Following our student of the month presentation.   Josh,  a former president of the Edina Rotary Club,  will share an international service trip opportunity.  The trip is planned for April 23-May 2, 2027.  

The City of Apple Valley has been building a digital archive of photos and news articles from the 1960’s through the 2000’s.  The presentation will cover the techniques used to identify dates, locations, and faces of the photos to help make the images more meaningful to the public.  It will also cover how you can contribute this project by donating images to the archive or learning how to identify the photos.

The 2026 World Cup showed America the extraordinary global reach and community power of soccer. But it also raised a bigger question: with millions of young players and a population of more than 340 million, why isn’t the U.S. stronger at the men’s international level?  Peter Beaumont explores how access, affordability, travel, early specialization and the pressure to win can shape youth soccer, contrasts this with Norway’s development-first approach, and shares how Eastview Soccer is creating a more affordable local pathway.   The talk ultimately asks: are we trying to find winners early - or help more children play, develop and fall in love with the game?
