The Salvation Army

Hello, my name is Hannah Gerdes, and I am the Social Services Team Lead at The Salvation Army on East Lake Street, in Minneapolis. Since COVID-19 and the civil unrest on E Lake Street, we have had a dramatic increase of need in our community.

 Our location is focused on providing emergency, basic needs assistance to anyone in our community that asks. We primarily have been focused on food, and hygiene supply distributions. We also provide financial assistance for rent and utilities.

 This year alone we have served 20 times the amount of families we did last year. Every month we serve 500-800 families. We have been fortune to receive a grant from Hennepin County for food, but this grant will expire on the December 15^th.
