SPEAKER: Tom Gump

TOPIC: Tips for Increasing Membership

Tom Gump is a member of the Rotary Club of Edina / Morningside.  He is the District 5950 Trainer and then will be our District Governor in 2020-21.  He is passionate about increasing Rotary Membership and retaining it.  He has been very involved in Youth Exchange - hosting five exchange students (one a year for the last five years) and serves on the North Star Youth Foundation Board of Directors.  Tom is also the Assistant Zone 28 Hamburg Promotional Coordinator - helping lead Zone 28’s promotional activities for the 2018 Rotary International Convention in Hamburg, Germany.  Tom also serves on the District 5950 Board of Directors and is the Secretary of the District's Foundation Board.

During Tom's 2016-17 stint as club president, Edina/Morningside added 31 members. Eleven of them were women; 10 were under 40 years old.

For the meeting of August 29, 2018 there are 40 cards and 2 Jokers. The pot stands at $293!  Ticket donations are: $1 for 1 ticket; $2 for 3 tickets; $5 for 10 tickets; and $10 for 25 tickets. Three lucky winners are chosen each week; the first two tickets drawn win $5, the third winner draws a card from the deck in hopes of pulling an Ace to win a share of the pot.  If a joker is pulled, it will cost the winner a $2 contribution to the pot.  If the Ace of Spades is pulled, the pot is awarded equally to all who have pulled an Ace from the current deck, and the drawing starts over again.  CONGRATULATIONS TASHA WELLS for drawing the Ace of Clubs.  Guaranteed 1/4 of the pot!
