Mark was invited to join Rotary in Pittsburgh, PA the day he started his first full-time job in 1989. Here in MN, he has been part of the Edina/Morningside Club and was part of the chartering of the Rotary Club of Service to Minnesota Veterans in 2019. During those years, he has enjoyed Rotary service in a fun variety of ways:
CLUB: vocational service, membership, public image, webmaster, youth exchange host family, club president, club foundation, and as club administrator
DISTRICT: district webmaster, district public image chair, district membership chair, youth exchange, district board of directors, conference breakout facilitator
ZONE: webmaster, 3 zone institute committees, zone tech team, Grow Rotary team
ROTARY FOUNDATION: 10+ year member of the Paul Harris Society; Major Donor; Polio Plus Society
Mark and his wife, Joann, own "Memories of Home" a faith and family home decor and gift store in Eden Prairie. The Shockeys have 3 married daughters, all living in the Twin Cities Metro Area, and have 5 grandchildren.

For the meeting of September 10, 2025 there are 39 cards and 2 Jokers. The pot stands at $128.00.Ticket donations are: $1 for 1 ticket; $2 for 3 tickets; $3 for 5 tickets; $5 for 10 tickets; and $10 for 25 tickets. Three lucky winners are chosen each week; the first two tickets drawn win $5, the third winner draws a card from the deck in hopes of pulling an Ace to win a share of the pot. If a joker is pulled, it will cost the winner a $2 contribution to the pot. If the Ace of Spades is pulled, the pot is awarded equally to all who have pulled an Ace from the current deck, and the drawing starts over again.
