TOPIC: What's New with the Apple Valley Fire Department
The Apple Valley Fire Department has been part of Chuck Russell’s life for nearly five decades.
He’s been around fire stations since his father, Dick Russell, joined the Apple Valley Fire Department in 1969. So his interest to join in May 1983 as he was completing high school was a natural progression, he said.
Russell began another chapter in his 30-plus years of firefighting in Apple Valley when he was sworn in as the department’s newest chief on March 14. His wife, Sandy, was present to pin the new badge on his uniform.
According to the fire department, he’s the seventh chief in the department’s history. Then called the Lebanon Fire Department, it was started in 1966.
