SPEAKER: Matt Saam, Public Works Director, City of Apple Valley

TOPIC: City Public Works Update 

Matt Saam is currently serving as Public Works Director for the City of Apple Valley. He has held this position since starting at the City in late 2015. As Public Works Director, Matt is responsible for the following City divisions: Street Maintenance, Utility Maintenance, Natural Resources, Fleet & Building Maintenance, Engineering, Building Inspections, and Public Works Administration.

Prior to coming to Apple Valley, Matt worked for three other metro cities: West St. Paul, Chanhassen, and Prior Lake. He also worked for a couple of small consulting firms at the start of his career. Matt has nearly 30 years of Public Works experience.

For the meeting of June 10, 2026 there are 12 cards and 1 Jokers. The pot stands at $607.00. Ticket donations are: $1 for 1 ticket; $2 for 3 tickets; $3 for 5 tickets; $5 for 10 tickets; and $10 for 25 tickets. Three lucky winners are chosen each week; the first two tickets drawn win $5, the third winner draws a card from the deck in hopes of pulling an Ace to win a share of the pot.  If a joker is pulled, it will cost the winner a $2 contribution to the pot.  If the Ace of Spades is pulled, the pot is awarded equally to all who have pulled an Ace from the current deck, and the drawing starts over again.  Congratulations Scott Ramsdale for drawing the Ace of Hearts, Josh Clark for drawing the Ace of Diamonds and Brian Bessler for drawing the Ace of Clubs.  They will be guaranteed 1/4 of the pot!
