SPEAKER: Jason Viana, Executive Director

TOPIC: Update on The Open Door

Jason will provide an update on The Open Door's work to provide access to healthy and fresh food to those in need. The Open Door believe that everyone deserves access to healthy food. They are the largest hunger relief organization, powered by neighbors helping neighbors. They make sure everyone who needs it has access to the freshest, healthiest food, delivered with dignity and care.

Each month, they serve 25,000 people across Dakota County, and in 2024, they distributed more than 4.5 million pounds of food. They focus solely on fresh, perishable and nourishing options, with over 75% of the food we distribute being fresh.

All fines collected will be used to support local organizations such as 360 Communities, The Open Door, MOMS, etc.

Weekly RedApple Update

For the meeting of January 14, 2026 there are 28 cards and 2 Jokers. The pot stands at $345.00. Ticket donations are: $1 for 1 ticket; $2 for 3 tickets; $3 for 5 tickets; $5 for 10 tickets; and $10 for 25 tickets. Three lucky winners are chosen each week; the first two tickets drawn win $5, the third winner draws a card from the deck in hopes of pulling an Ace to win a share of the pot. If a joker is pulled, it will cost the winner a $2 contribution to the pot. If the Ace of Spades is pulled, the pot is awarded equally to all who have pulled an Ace from the current deck, and the drawing starts over again. Congratulations Josh Clark for drawing the Ace of Diamonds and Brian Bessler for drawing the Ace of Clubs. They will be guaranteed 1/4 of the pot!
