SPEAKER: Jason Viana, Executive Director

TOPIC: An Update on The Open Door

The Open Door is a hunger-relief organization dedicated to ending local hunger through access to healthy food . Through its collective programs, The Open Door serves more than 15,000 Dakota County residents each month and distributes over 3 million pounds of food annually, 70% of which is fresh and/or perishable. Clients are able to access healthy food choices through a fixed-site food pantry in Eagan, multiple Mobile Pantry sites, the Mobile Lunch Box, and the Garden To Table program.

Executive Director, Jason Viana, is a transplant from Alabama who now lives in Burnsville with his wife Nicola and two awesome boys. When not working with the Open Door team, he spends most of his time with family. Jason loves mountain biking, downhill skiing, hiking and rediscovering his humility by running obstacle races.

Weekly RedApple Update

For the meeting of January 29, 2025 there are 41 cards and 2 Jokers. The pot stands at $106.00. Ticket donations are: $1 for 1 ticket; $2 for 3 tickets; $3 for 5 tickets; $5 for 10 tickets; and $10 for 25 tickets. Three lucky winners are chosen each week; the first two tickets drawn win $5, the third winner draws a card from the deck in hopes of pulling an Ace to win a share of the pot. If a joker is pulled, it will cost the winner a $2 contribution to the pot. If the Ace of Spades is pulled, the pot is awarded equally to all who have pulled an Ace from the current deck, and the drawing starts over again. Congratulations to Tim Benetti for drawing the Ace of Clubs and Diamonds, and Brian Bessler for drawing the Ace or Hearts. They are guaranteed 1/4 of the pot.
