Topic:          Parks and Recreation Bond Referendum

Mr. Carlson is the Parks & Recreation Director for the City of Apple Valley, Minnesota, a position he has held since January 2021.  Prior to coming to Apple Valley, he served the City of Inver Grove Heights as their Parks and Recreation Director for 14 years and the City of Champlin as their Parks & Public Works Director for 7 years.  Mr. Carlson has also worked for the City of Burnsville in Park Maintenance, as a Recreation Supervisor, and a Recreation Facility Manager over a 9-year period. 

Holding a Bachelor of Science in Recreation from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, North Dakota, Mr. Carlson also has a Master of Arts in Public Administration from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota.  He is a Certified Park and Recreation Executive (CPRE) through the National Recreation and Parks Association. 

Enjoying his free time at his family’s cabin in NW Wisconsin, Mr. Carlson loves visiting National Parks, and taking trips to Montana -- especially in the winter -- to ski at Big Sky and Whitefish ski resorts.
