FOR THE 7TH STRAIGHT YEAR, APPLE VALLEY ROTARY CLUB MEMBERS PUT SMILES ON FACES OF OVER 1,800 3RD GRADE STUDENTS IN ISD196 WITH DELIVERY OF THEIR FIRST PERSONAL DICTIONARY.

33 members of the Club have been busy this past month presenting free 500-plus page dictionaries to over 1,800 3^rd grade students in Independent School District 196. There are 14 elementary schools in Apple Valley, Rosemount and Eagan that the Club covered. They also provided dictionaries to five church schools in the district that teach 3^rd grade.

Mark Bodin has been a member of the Apple Valley Rotary Club for ten years and has promoted this wonderful and beneficial project for the past seven years. Funding for the dictionary project comes from the annual sale of raffle tickets for a Ford Focus through Valley Ford Lincoln.

The students and teachers are very thankful for the dictionaries.

January 6 Weekly Raffle Update

For the meeting of January 6, 2016 there are 29 cards and 2 Jokers. The pot stands at $706.

Ticket donations are: $1 for 1 ticket; $2 for 3 tickets; $5 for 10 tickets; and $10 for 25 tickets. Three lucky winners are chosen each week; the first two tickets drawn win $5, the third winner draws a card from the deck in hopes of pulling an Ace to win a share of the pot. If a joker is pulled, it will cost the winner a $2 contribution to the pot. If the Ace of Spades is pulled, the pot is awarded equally to all who have pulled an Ace from the current deck, and the drawing starts over again. Clint Hooppaw drew the Ace of Diamonds on December 2 and Greg Miller drew the Ace of Club on December 23. They are guaranteed at least 1/4 of the pot. Congratulations Clint and Greg!
