Just a few photos of STRIVE/AVID Students Presenting to Club members

Robert & Tasha,
Today was one of the most rewarding Rotary meetings I can recall.    Thank you for leading, pushing, and pulling us into more meaningful involvement in the lives of these students.

Apple Valley Rotary STRIVE Awards

What's new this week?

What's new this week?

Speaker: Apple Valley Rotary

Topic:  Club Assembly

Exchange Student for the 2017-2018 school year.

Her name is Ah-jin Jo, from South Korea. Peter Theberath is working with the principal of the Apple Valley School of Environmental Studies "SES" to get Ah-jin registered there.  This will probably have her affiliated with Eastview High School as a "home high school."  Some preliminary contact with the principal indicates enrollment there is possible.  He will have more to say about this choice of school at this weeks meeting.
At this time he is seeking help and volunteers for the following:
  • A female member of the club is needed to volunteer to be the student's host club counselor.  Rotary rules directs the clubs to have counselors the same gender as the exchange student.
  • Host families

Three lucky winners are chosen each week; the first two tickets drawn win $5, the third winner draws a card from the deck in hopes of pulling an Ace to win a share of the pot.  If a joker is pulled, it will cost the winner a $2 contribution to the pot.  If the Ace of Spades is pulled, the pot is awarded equally to all who have pulled an Ace from the current deck, and the drawing starts over again.
