SPEAKER:  Steve Yoch

TOPIC:  George Washington Action Hero

Author Steve Yoch is a highly rated speaker who has written Becoming George Washington which has received wide praise and extensive media coverage, including selection as "fall read" by the Pioneer Press and a Finalist in Historical Fiction by Next Generation Independent Book Awards.  Yoch was also chosen as a Literati by the Landmark Center.  Steve will share the largely unknown story of how an insecure fatherless boy rises to become our indispensable founding father. A far cry from the powdered haired General or President presented in most Washington biographies, Yoch's engaging speech reveals young George through repeated harrowing battles in the French & Indian War as well as discussing the highly controversial, although well documented, affair between Washington and Sally Fairfax.

When Steve is not writing, he is an attorney and partner at Felhaber Larson.  He represents a broad range of small and medium sized companies on complex business matters, both in and out of court.  Steve is also a Trustee of the Mounds View School Foundation.

He and his wife Andrea have two wonderful teenage sons.

June 15 Weekly Raffle Update

Ed Corbett drew the Ace of Spades and now splits the pot with Clint Hooppaw, Greg Miller, and Eva Cheney-Hatcher! CONGRATULATIONS to All!

For the meeting of June 15, 2016 there are 52 cards and 2 Jokers. The pot stands at $45!

Ticket donations are: $1 for 1 ticket; $2 for 3 tickets; $5 for 10 tickets; and $10 for 25 tickets. Three lucky winners are chosen each week; the first two tickets drawn win $5, the third winner draws a card from the deck in hopes of pulling an Ace to win a share of the pot.  If a joker is pulled, it will cost the winner a $2 contribution to the pot.  If the Ace of Spades is pulled, the pot is awarded equally to all who have pulled an Ace from the current deck, and the drawing starts over again.
