What Did You Miss?
The Goodness of Rotarians

A.V. Rotarians made enough desserts to serve over 200 individuals who attended Jim Koester’s funeral last week.  Jim was a 30+ year member of our club who exemplified the values of Rotary and always had a smile for everyone.  Thank you to everyone who made the treats.  Judy truly appreciated our help.  The few leftovers went to the family.

OCTOBER 4th Meeting Change

MORNING MEETING BEGINS AT 6:30AM

SET YOUR ALARM!!

It is that time of year when all good A.V. Rotarians “Arrive at 6:30 AM” on Wednesday, October 4 to start putting stickers in the books we have been collecting for children in our community as well as the dictionaries that we are donated to all 3rd graders in ISD 196.  It is a fun, team project with special guest speakers Dr. Jane Berenz, Superintendent of ISD 196 and Will Nagle, Motivational Speaker Extraordinaire.  In addition, we will not be served the traditional Rotarian breakfast, but a unique hand-held “picnic” meal!

Don’t miss the fun.............
See you at 6:30 AM  on
Wednesday, Oct.  4 !

Feel free to bring a family member or friend to help and introduce them to
Rotary at the same time!

Remember we are taking dictionaries for the schools/churches we've agreed to cover with us after labeling is completed.

FOODSHELF WEDNESDAY - Bring food items you would like to donate and they will get delivered to 360 Communities.  The apple will also be passed if you would prefer a cash donation. Remember for every $1 donated, 360 Communities can purchase $3 worth of food from their partners.  360 Communities greatly appreciates your donations!

Weekly Raffle Update

For the meeting of October 4, 2017 there are 21 cards and 2 Jokers. The pot stands at $935!  Ticket donations are: $1 for 1 ticket; $2 for 3 tickets; $5 for 10 tickets; and $10 for 25 tickets. Three lucky winners are chosen each week; the first two tickets drawn win $5, the third winner draws a card from the deck in hopes of pulling an Ace to win a share of the pot.  If a joker is pulled, it will cost the winner a $2 contribution to the pot.  If the Ace of Spades is pulled, the pot is awarded equally to all who have pulled an Ace from the current deck, and the drawing starts over again.  Congratulations to  Bruce Nordquist for drawing the Ace of Hearts.  He is guaranteed 1/4 of the pot!

Speaker Rotation - Who's Up?

Upcoming Speaker Rotation

The person in bold each month is that month's group chair to help facilitate communication.  Once your group lines up speakers, please let Justin Burleson know so he can update the calendar and Gwen will update the bulletin.  Thanks everyone for your work lining up speakers and hopefully this new process will further stimulate Rotary member interaction.
Please contact Justin Burleson with your speaker's topic and biographical info.
