Randy Bailey and Rick Anderson
Rick's bike sale benefiting Kids n' Kinship

NOW SEEKING BIKE DONATIONS!

Rick Anderson is seeking bike donations for his 10th annual bike sale benefiting two Dakota County nonprofit organizations: Kids ‘n Kinship (which matches adult mentors with kids in need) and DARTS (connecting seniors to services and partnerships that improve their quality of life). More info about these organizations is below! Rick and friends clean, refurbish, and tune up the bikes before holding a big sale each May. In all, Rick has raised more than $130,000 in his first nine sales and is looking to continue helping the programs he so strongly believes in.  Rick refurbished, sold, and/or donated 422 bikes last year and is looking for even more for his next sale which will be held on May 12, 2018 at Superior Service Center in Apple Valley.

If that old kiddie bike, cruiser, or mountain bike is collecting dust in the corner of the garage, consider cleaning up the space, and donating it to a great cause . See the CONTACT page to get hold of Rick & friends by phone or email and donate a bike!

HELP  - and STORAGE SPACE - NEEDED !    As the sale continues to get bigger each year, Rick is seeking additional help from the community.  Much of the bike refurbishing is simply cleaning the donated bikes, however if you have some bike maintenance experience Rick would greatly appreciate your help.  Rick is extremely flexible and would be happy to teach you a few things about bike tune-ups as well.    Our biggest limiting factor is lack of storage space for repaired bikes as they wait for the sale in May. If you have some clean dry space to donate -- a basement? warehouse? storage unit? -- PLEASE contact Rick! A generous tax deduction for your donation may be available.

ABOUT KIDS 'N KINSHIP  Kids 'n Kinship is a private non-profit organization that matches children who have a need for an additional supportive relationship with carefully screened adult volunteers.  Once a match has been made, volunteers spend 1-4 hours per week with the child.  Typical activities might include picnicking, attending sporting events, sharing interests or going to the movies.  Volunteers make a one-year commitment to the program.  These relationships often grow into  life-long friendships. We serve children in the communities of Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan, Farmington, Lakeville and Rosemount. See more at: www.kidsnkinship.org/

ABOUT DARTS  DARTS is a community-based nonprofit that connects senior citizens to services and partnerships that improve their quality of life, help them age well, and enable them to engage in their community. DARTS creates connections that enrich aging, providing a network of valuable information and resources to people of all ages and fosters the health of the community by helping people remain active and connected to one another.
