What's new this week?
Our program for March 18, straight from Irish lore this time, celebrates the arrival of Tim Mulcrone, District 5950 Polio Chair ( and a wee bit of a leprechaun himself ). It is our Polio Plus Wednesday for the Club and you may recall his inspiring message at the 2013/2014 President’s Dinner introducing our own David Kingsbury’s term as President. What you may not know, or have not heard recently, is the updated message about global polio eradication and “when polio comes home”. Tim is even ready for those tough questions from members ( just for you Chuck!). Join us, greet Tim and enjoy the leprechaun and the gnome sharing the same stage, all for Polio Plus and polio eradication
Club Members,
The Club meeting of March 25 is a special one. The club will have achieved 30 years of “service above self” on March 27, 2015. You can expect a lot more at this exciting, upcoming morning meeting at Valleywood:
A special omelet breakfast shared for invited past and present members, and guests. ( Just let me know by Monday if you ask someone so we get the setting and food service just right).
Recognition for 5 Charter date members: Chuck Borresen, Craig Fields, Joe Sterling, Tom Goodwin, Paul Heil and other notables: Jim Koester, Steve Mattson, Merv Nordstrom and Ed Holmes that became members more than 25 years ago.
The Gnome helping to cook breakfast.
Memories…perhaps you have one to share? Let me know!
And a special thanks to all for your club service and contributions!
Bruce Nordquist
President
March 18 Weekly Raffle Update
For the meeting of March 18, 2015 there are 46 cards and 2 Jokers. The pot stands at $103 +.
Ticket donations are: $1 for 1 ticket; $2 for 3 tickets; $5 for 10 tickets; and $10 for 25 tickets. Three lucky winners are chosen each week; the first two tickets drawn win $5, the third winner draws a card from the deck in hopes of pulling an Ace to win a share of the pot. If a joker is pulled, it will cost the winner a $2 contribution to the pot. If the Ace of Spades is pulled, the pot is awarded equally to all who have pulled an Ace from the current deck, and the drawing starts over again.

We support the M.O.M.S. program because 'Life is a relay race'
M.O.M.S. is a non-profit mentoring program that works to equip local single mothers with the skills and resources they need to build healthy, stable homes for their families. The donation was received by program director (and Burnsville Breakfast Rotarian) Kathryn Archambault, who noted that, "Life is a relay race: you pick up where someone else left off and you pass on what you learn."

What's your story?
Club President Bruce has issued a challenge for all Apple Valley Rotarians to create and share your "6-Word Story," an incredibly brief explanation of what Rotary means to YOU. The idea is to think about why you are a Rotarian and write an impactful, bold statement that concisely shares your passion with others. Here are some examples of non-Rotary 6-Word Stories to inspire you, as well as some 6-Word Memoirs written by celebrities and politicians.
The following club members are responsible for arranging meeting speakers on the assigned days.
Please contact Wayne Hilbert with your speaker's topic and biographical info.
