Brought up in Clydebank west of Glasgow and dropped out of High School at 16 and became a Mobile Radio Technician. Clydebank was where the 'Queens' were built. Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth and the QE2 plus the majority of the Cunard fleet.
Married my wife Mary in 1971 and have 2 sons. The elder son is here in the US and our younger son is still in Edinburgh.
I spent 25 years in the gas industry in Scotland working up from a radio technician to senior manager responsible for the design and implementation of a $26 million radio system purchased from Nokia and installed throughout Scotland.Spent a further 2 years troubleshooting the other gas industry radio systems throughout the UK.
With the gas industry downsizing, I left in 1996 and spent the next 9 years in the rail and mobile phone industries as a mobile radio system design consultant.
Our elder son married a lady from Wisconsin in 1995 and blessed us with a granddaughter in 2002. After refusing to bring our grandchild to us at the weekends we decided to emmigrate and in October 2005 we moved into their basement.!
Joined Apple Valley Rotary in February 2006, sponsored by Clint Hooppaw. Became Sergeant-at-Arms in 2008 leading to Club President 2011/2012.
Sold office supplies and furniture for 3 years, a further year with Sam's Club as a Business Rep till they re-organized and I and 14,999 other Reps were made redundant. Have been with Walmart for more than 5 years and am currently a full-time Order Fulfillment Associate satisfying orders placed on Walmart.com.
Planning to cut back to part-time at the start of 2016 and spend more time traveling with our truck and 5th wheel trailer, seeing much more of the US.
