Apple Valley Rotary Club Bulletin for January 14, 2015

This week's meeting (January 14) is back at the Valleywood Golf Club  7 a.m.

This week's speaker is Kevin Scheel, with the topic "Legalizing Marijuana."

Way to go, Sharon!

Congratulations Apple Valley Rotarian (and Past-President) Sharon LaComb on being named one of Dakota County’s 2015 Exceptional Businesswomen by the Dakota Tribune and Sun ThisWeek!

The honor celebrates women who “go the extra mile” to make a difference, both their profession and in the communities in which they live and work.

Sharon is a former teacher, Apple Valley City Councilwoman and vice president of Dakota County Technical College. As Apple Valley Rotarians know, she is also a gifted fundraiser and organizer of our annual raffle. Click here to read an article Bill Tschol wrote about Sharon for Sun ThisWeek in 2011.

Sharon and her fellow Exceptional Businesswomen will be honored at a recognition breakfast at 8 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26 at the Holiday Inn in Lakeville. Tickets are available; $25 per person or fill a table for $175.

Jan. 14 Weekly Raffle Update

For the meeting of Jan 14, 2015 there are 45 cards and 2 Jokers. The pot stands at $267.

Ticket donations are: $1 for 1 ticket; $2 for 3 tickets; $5 for 10 tickets; and $10 for 25 tickets. Three lucky winners are chosen each week; the first two tickets drawn win $5, the third winner draws a card from the deck in hopes of pulling an Ace to win a share of the pot.  If a joker is pulled, it will cost the winner a $2 contribution to the pot.  If the Ace of Spades is pulled, the pot is awarded equally to all who have pulled an Ace from the current deck, and the drawing starts over again.
